A mixture of 2-amino-3-(4-aminophenyl)-propionic acid hydrate (0.27 g, 1.5 mmol), 4-chloro-quinoline (0.245 g, 1.5 mmol) and conc. HCl (0.43 g) in dioxane (3 mL) is stirred at 120° C. temperature for 30 min in a tightly closed Pierce glass reaction vial. After cooling the liquid phase is separated and the solid residue is washed with acetonitrile (3×3 mL) and diethyl ether (5 mL) to give the title compound (0.405 g, 65%) as yellow solid.
