To a solution of 3-[4-(2,5-dimethyl-phenyl)-piperazine-1-carbonyl]-4-(4-fluoro-2-methyl-phenyl)-piperazine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (133 mg) in ethanol (5 mL) was added a saturated solution of hydrogen chloride in ethanol (1 mL). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h, and was concentrated to give [4-(2,5-dimethyl-phenyl)-piperazin-1-yl]-[1-(4-fluoro-2-methyl-phenyl)-piperazin-2-yl]-methanone hydrochloride as crude white solid, MS: 411.5 ([M+H]+).
