Three (3.00) g of ethyl 2-(3,4-dichlorobenzyl)-5-methyl-4-oxo-3,4-dihydrothieno[2,3-d]pyrimidine-6-carboxylate and 37 mL of phosphorus oxychloride were mixed, and to which 1.4 mL of N,N-dimethylaniline was added, followed by stirring at 90° for 4 hours. The reaction liquid was poured on ice and stirred for 3 hours, and the precipitated crystals were recovered by filtration and washed with water. Drying the crystals under aeration, 3.05 g of the title compound was obtained.
