Procedure
A mixture of 4-[(4-fluoro-2-methyl-1H-indol-5-yl)oxy]-6-methoxy-7-(3-piperazin-1-ylpropoxy)quinazoline (370 mg, 0.8 mmol), (prepared as described for the starting material in Example 15), iodoacetamide (162 mg, 0.88 mmol) and N,N-diisopropylethylanmine (230 mg, 1.80 mmol) in acetonitrile (10 ml) was stirred at reflux for 1 hour and allowed to cool to ambient temperature. The solvent was removed under vacuum and the residue purified by column chromatography eluting with methylene chloride/methanol (saturated with ammonia) (92/8) solvent. The relevant fractions were combined and evaporated under vacuum to give a solid which was triturated with acetone, filtered and dried to give 7-[3-(4-carbamoylmethylpiperazin-1-yl)propoxy]-4-[(4-fluoro-2-methyl-1H-indol-5-yl)oxy]-6-methoxyquinazoline (132 mg, 32%).
