To a stirred solution of the benzyl alcohol (66) (640 mg, 2.61 mmol) and imidazole (266 mg, 3.91 mmol) in DMF (5.0 mL) at RT was added TBDMS-Cl (590 mg, 3.91 mmol). After 3 hr the reaction mixture was diluted with water and extracted with Et2O. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried (MgSO4) and then evaporated in vacuo to afford the title compound (Intermediate N) (875 mg, 89%): m/z 360 (M+H)+ (ES+)
