Procedure
A solution of 1.07 g (4.0 mmol) of 5-fluoro-2-nitro-4-trifluoromethyl-benzoic acid methyl ester and 0.461 ml (6.8 mmol) of azetidine in 10 ml of tetrahydrofuran is heated at reflux for 90 minutes. After evaporation of the tetrahydrofuran the residue is distributed between water and ethyl acetate, the organic phase separated and washed with water and brine, dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated yielding 1.19 g of 5-azetidin-1-yl-2-nitro-4-trifluoromethyl-benzoic acid methyl ester as yellow powder, m.p. 127-136° C.
