Procedure
3.00 g (10.5 mmol) of trans-2-[6-(4-fluoro-phenyl)-pyridin-3-yl]-cyclopropanecarboxylic acid ethyl ester and 378 mg (15.8 mmol) of lithium hydroxide were dissolved in a mixture of 27 ml of methanol, 5 ml of dioxane and 3 ml of water, and the mixture was heated at 70° C. for 2 h. Subsequently, the mixture was evaporated to dryness, the residue was taken up in water and the pH was adjusted to 4 with acetic acid. The precipitate was isolated by filtration and purified by column chromatography (silica gel, dichloromethane/methanol, gradient from 98:2 to 95:5). Yield: 2.2 g.
