Reaction Steps
A mixture of 0.01 mole of the methyl ester of Example 4 and 0.02 mole of 3-dimethylamino-1-propanol is refluxed in 20 ml of toluene until all the H2O present has been azeotroped off. The heating mantle is removed and 0.25 g of aluminum isopropoxide is added. The mixture is then refluxed overnight. After cooling the solid present is filtered off, washed with water and crystallized.
