Procedure
1.5 g of 4-(4-bromobenzyloxy)-3-[1-(1-imidazolyl)butyl]-benzonitrile (of example 3) is reacted with 3 g of potassium hydroxide in an aqueous methanol solution for 24 hours under reflux. After working up, 1.1 g of 4-(4-bromobenzyloxy)-3-[1-(1-imidazolyl)-butyl]-benzoic acid with a melting point of 187°-189° C. is obtained.
