A solution of 4-t-butyl-2-nitro-phenol (980 mg, 5 mmol), morpholine (50 mmol) and paraformaldehyde (1.5 g, 50 mmol) in 20 mL ethanol was heated in a sealed vial at 95° C. for 6 hr. After removal of the solvent and morpholine, the residue was purified via silica gel column chromatography to afford 1.75 g target compound as a yellow solid.
