5 g of (S)-(+)-styrene oxide and 15.410 mL ethanol amine were stirred at room temperature overnight. The solution is poured into water and the water was extracted with dichloromethane. The combined dichloromethane layers were washed with brine and concentrated in vacuo. The oil was used crude. Assumed quantitative yield carried on to the next step. Theoretical wt: 7.9 g
