Procedure
A solution of HCl in dioxane (1.0 mL, 4M, 4.0 mmol) was added to a solution of tert-butyl 2-(1-phenylethyl)-5,6,8,9-tetrahydro-7H-pyrimido[4,5-d]azepine-7-carboxylate of Preparation 2, Step D, (150 mg, 0.40 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (2.0 mL). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. The reaction was quenched by addition of sat sodium bicarbonate and extracted into CH2Cl2. The combined organics were dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered and concentrated in vacuo to provide the crude product as a brown gum (45 mg). The title compound was purified by reverse phase HPLC.
