Ammonia gas was bubbled into a solution of 4-chloro-3-[2-methyl-5-(1-methyl-1H-[1,2,3]triazol-4-yl)-phenoxy-methyl]-thieno[3,2-c]pyridine-7-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (0.17 g, 0.38 mmol) (from Example 22 supra) in 2-propanol (15 mL) for 20 minutes. The mixture was heated in a microwave reactor at 140° C. for 2 hours. The reaction mixture was concentrated. The residue washed with hot methanol, filtered and dried to give 4-amino-3-[2-methyl-5-(1-methyl-1H-[1,2,3]triazol-4-yl)-phenoxymethyl]-thieno[3,2-c]pyridine-7-carboxylic acid ethyl ester as a white powder. (Yield 0.10 g, 63%).
