Procedure
A solution of 2.9 g (0.01 mole) of 3-(4-bromophenoxy)-1-azetidinecarbonyl chloride in 15 ml of tetrahyfrofuran was treated while stirring with the dropwise addition of 1.8 g (0.01 mole) of 1-benzylpiperazine. After stirring for 2 hr, the reaction mixture was diluted with water (200 ml) and 1.4 g of potassium carbonate was added. The solid precipitate was collected by filtration (5.2 g). Recrystallization from benzene/ligroin yielded 3.4 g (79.1%) of white crystals, m.p. 133°-135° C.
