Compound VII (32 mg), obtained in Example 10, was dissolved in methanol (2 ml). Pd/C (10 mg) was added and the reaction mixture flushed with hydrogen and stirred for about 1.5 hours until all spotting material was gone, as determined by TLC in CH2Cl2 :ethylacetate (1:1), yielding 16.2 mg (86 percent yield) of Compound 5b.
