Procedure

A solution of (cis- and trans-) ethyl 5-(1-propenyl)-1-[2'-(1-triphenylmethyltetrazol-5-yl)biphenyl-4-yl-methyl]pyrrole-2-carboxylate (350 mg, 0.53 mmol) in benzene (35 ml) containing 5% Pd/C (35 mg) in a Paar bottle was placed on a Paar apparatus under 40 psi H2 and shaken for about 4 hours at room temperature. The mixture was suction filtered through Celite and concentrated to leave 350 mg of a white solid.
