Reaction Steps

(1(S)-tert-Butyl-2-oxo-3-pyridin-2-yl-propyl)-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (300 mg, 1.0 mmol), was dissolved in dioxane saturated with HCl (20 mL) and the reaction mixture stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. The mixture was then concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound as a yellow solid (0.37 g) which was used in Step C without further purification.
