Procedure

Stir overnight a mixture of the acetic acid -(3-acetoxy-2-methoxy-phenyl)-{1-[2-(4-fluoro-phenyl)-ethyl]-piperidin-4-yl}-methyl ester, Example 1F (5.2 g, 1.1 mmol), NaHCO3 (11 g, 130 mmol), methanol (100 mL) and water (50 mL). Add water (100 mL) and dichloromethane (100 mL), and separate the layers. Extract the aqueous layer with dichloromethane (100 mL), and combine the organic layers. Dry over Na2SO4 and filter. Remove the solvent under vacuum and obtain 5.1 g of product.
