Procedure

To a solution of 2-amino-5-bromopyrazine (366 mg) in dimethoxyethane (20 mL) was added 4-hydroxyphenylboronic acid (320 mL), 1.5N sodium carbonate aqueous solution (2.5 mL) and tetrakis (triphenylphosphine) palladium (0) (54 mg). The mixture was stirred at 80° C. for 3 hours. To the reaction mixture was added water (20 mL) and the whole was extracted with ethyl acetate (50 mL×3). The extract was washed with saturated saline solution, then dried over anhydrous Na2SO4. The removal of the solvent provided crystal residue, which was washed with diethyl ether (10 mL) to give the subject compound (305 mg).
