A mixture of (1R,2R,5R)-8-benzyl-1-phenyl-2-triethylsilyloxy-8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octane (Description 52; 107 mg, 0.26 mmol), 2M hydrochloric acid (3 ml) and methanol (6 ml) was stirred at +55° C. for 15 minutes, then concentrated in vacuo and quenched with saturated aqueous NaHCO3. The mixture was extracted with dichloromethane. The combined organic extracts were dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated to give the title compound (79 mg, 96%).
