A mixture of (1R*,2R*,5S*,6R*)-2-{[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]methoxy}-6-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)-1-phenyl-8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octane (Example 25; 44 mg, 0.08 mmol), methanol (0.1 ml), dichloromethane (0.6 ml) and 1M HCl in diethyl ether (1 ml) was kept at room temperature for 3 weeks. The mixture was concentrated to give the title compound as a white solid.
