280 mg (0.82 mmol) of tert-butyl {(E)-3-[2-(3-hydroxymethylphenyl)pyrimidin-5-yl]allyl}carbamate are dissolved in 10 ml of THF, shaken at room temperature for 17 h with 300 mg of platinum on active carbon (5%, comprises 56% of water) under a hydrogen atmosphere. The catalyst is filtered off with suction, and the filtrate is evaporated to dryness.
