2-(5-Trifluoromethyl-1H-indazol-3-yl)-isoindole-1,3-dione (1.56 g, 4.71 mmol) in DMF (5 mL) was treated with t-butyl-isocyanate (513 mg, 5.18 mmol) at room temperature overnight. The reaction was partitioned between ethyl acetate and water. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated to give the crude material. Purification by silica gel column (hexanes:ethyl acetate 2:1) afforded the title compound as colorless solid.
