Procedure
A solution of the product of Example 1D (1.00 g, 2.37 mmol) in a mixture of 5 mL methanol and 5 mL tetrahydrofuran was treated with 5M sodium hydroxide (2 mL) in methanol, and stirred at ambient temperature for 90 minutes. The reaction mixture was diluted with water, and the resulting precipitate was collected by filtration to give 0.75 g of the title compound (86% yield). 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 13.00 (broad s, 1H), 8.59 (s, 1H), 8.03 (s, 1H), 7.66 (d, J=7.5 Hz, 1H), 7.20 (m, 2H), 7.10-6.90 (m, 4H), 4.91 (m, 1H), 4.30-4.12 (m, 2H), 2.20-2.00 (m, 2H), 1.22 (s, 9H). MS (ESI) m/e 365 (M+H)+. Calc'd. For C17H16N4O2.1.0; H2O: C, 65.95; H, 6.85; N, 14.65. Found: C, 65.93, H, 6.69, N, 14.41.
