Procedure
Erlotinib trifluoroacetate salt (10 g) was charged into deionized water (DI water) (80 ml) at 25° C. to 30° C. 35% Concentrated hydrochloric acid (aqueous, 12 ml) was added slowly to reaction mixture at 25° C. to 30° C. and stirred for about 2 hours at 25° C. to 30° C. The solid obtained was filtered, washed with DI water (2×15 ml) and dried under vacuum for about 18 hours at 40° C. to 45° C. to give erlotinib hydrochloride.
