To a solution of ethyl 5-[(Z)-(methylthio)(phenylimino)methyl]-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro[1,3]thiazolo[5,4-c]pyridine-2-carboxylate (1 eq) obtained in step II in methanol, K2CO3 (2 eq) and few drops of water were added and the reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 15 h. Solvent was evaporated and the residue was treated with etheral HCl. The solvent was then evaporated and the residue was as such used for further reaction without purification.
