Procedure
A solution of 6-bromo-1′-methyl-2′-(methylthio)-2-phenylspiro[chroman-4,4′-imidazol]-5′(1′H)-one (59 mg, 0.142 mmol), NH4I (41.5 mg, 0.286 mmol) in a solution of NH3/EtOH (4 mL, 1.5 N) was heated at 110° C. in a tube in a microwave reactor for 2-2.5 h. After cooling, the mixture was concentrated in vacuo to give a residue, which was purified by preparative TLC to afford 2′-amino-6-bromo-1′-methyl-2-phenylspiro[chroman-4,4′-imidazol]-5′(1′H)-one (21 mg, 38%). 1H-NMR (MeOD): 2.04 (d, 1H), 2.15 (dd, 1H), 4.51 (m, 1H), 5.75 (d, 1H), 6.78 (m, 1H), 6.99 (d, 1H), 7.20-7.26 (m, 2H), 7.26-7.35 (m, 4H).
