Procedure

A solution of 6-bromo-1′-methyl-2′-(methylthio)-2-phenylspiro[chroman-4,4′-imidazol]-5′(1′H)-one (380 mg, 0.913 mmol), and NH4I (265 mg, 1.83 mmol) in a solution of NH3/EtOH (8 mL, 1.5 N) was heated at 110° C. in a CEM tube in a microwave reactor for 2 h. After cooling, the mixture was concentrated in vacuo to give a residue, which was purified by preparative TLC to afford 2′-amino-6-bromo-1′-methyl-2-phenylspiro[chroman-4,4′-imidazol]-5′(1′H)-one with two isomers: cis isomer (21 mg, 38%) and trans isomer (25 mg, 45%).
