To a solution of N-methyl-hydroxylamine hydrochloride (101 mg, 1.2 mmol) in MeOH (4 mL) was added MeONa (0.24 mL, 25% (Wt.) in MeOH), followed by N-(6-bromochroman-4-ylidene)cyanamide (300 mg, 1.2 mmol). After stirring for 10 minutes, the solvent was removed in vacuo. The resulting residue was purified by preparative TLC to give 6-bromo-2′-methyl-2′H-spiro[chroman-4,5′-[1,2,4]oxadiazol]-3′-amine (315 mg, 88%).
