Procedure

To a solution of 3-(4-bromo-phenyl)-6-chloro-7-hydroxy-4-oxo-4H-chromene-8-carbaldehyde 53.5 mg, 0.14 mmol) in EtOH (6 ml), hydroxylamine hydrochloride (100 mg, 1.4 mmol) was added. The resulting mixture was heated at reflux for 16 hours. EtOH was evaporated and EtOAc (20 ml) was added. The organic layer was washed with sat. NaHCO3 and dried. Solids (33 mg) were obtained when the resulting oil was triturated with ether. 1H NMR (d6-DMSO) δ=9.83 (1H, s); 8.70 (1H, s); 8.21 (1H, s); 7.78 (2H, d) and 7.68 (2H, s). LCMS: (M+1)+=394.1 (RT=8.60 min.)
