A solution of 34A (4.5 g, 17.4 mmol) in EtOH (120 mL) was treated with concentrated H2SO4 (4 mL) and heated to reflux for 24 hours. The mixture was cooled to room temperature and neutralized with 5% NaHCO3. The resulting solution was extracted with CH2Cl2, dried (MgSO4), filtered, and concentrated to afford 43A (2.6 g, 65%).
