A solution of formic acid (0.02 mL, 0.56 mmol) and acetic anhydride (0.05 mL, 0.56 mmol) was heated to 50° C. for 2 hours under an argon atmosphere. The resulting mixture was diluted with THF (0.2 mL) and added dropwise to a solution of 34B (50 mg, 0.19 mmol) at 0° C. The reaction mixture was slowly warmed to room temperature and stirred for 16 hours. The resulting solution was concentrated to dryness and purified by chromatography (SiO2, 40% EtOAc in hexane) to afford 44A (58 mg, 100%).
