LiAlH4 (0.67 g) was added in portions to a solution of 6-Methoxy-3-(5-methyl-1H-pyrazol-3-ylamino)-isoquinoline-1-carboxylic acid isopropyl ester (1.5 g) in 50 mL THF at 0° C. The mixture was stirred at r.t. overnight. Ice-water was added carefully to the mixture until no gas produced. The pH of the solution was adjusted to 7˜8, and then extracted with ethyl acetate three times. The organic layer was washed with saturated NaCl(aq), dried over NaSO4, and concentrated to give the crude product for the next step reaction without further purification.
