1-(3,5-dichloro-benzyl)-1H-imidazol-2-ylamine was dissolved in CH2Cl2 and Et3N was added followed by benzoyl chloride. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h and washed with 1N HCl, saturated NaHCO3 and water. The organic phase was dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated. The residue was purified by silica gel prep TLC using 95:5 CH2Cl2:MeOH to afford N-[1-(3,5-dichloro-benzyl)-1H-imidazol-2-yl]-benzamide (40 mg, 56%).
