Procedure

A mixture of 5-bromo-2-oxindole (106 mg, 0.5 mmol), 2-formyl-5-methyl-1H-pyrrole-3-carboxylic acid (2-diethylaminoethyl)-amide (126 mg, 1 equiv.) and piperidine (0.2 mL) in ethanol (2 mL) was heated in a sealed tube at 80° C. for 1 hr and then cooled. The precipitate was collected by vacuum filtration, washed with ethanol and ethyl acetate and dried to give the title compound as an orange solid.
