A mixture of 10 parts of 1-(4-isothiocyanatophenyl)-4-(4-methoxyphenyl)piperazine, 3 parts of 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol and 260 parts of dichloromethane was stirred overnight at room temperature. The precipitated product was filtered off, washed with dichloromethane and 2-propanone and dried, yielding 11.7 parts (91.9%) of N-(2-hydroxy-1,1-dimethylethyl)-N'-[4-[4-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1-piperazinyl]phenyl]thiourea; mp. 221.6° C. (int. 7).
