To 2-(1-Methyl-5-trimethylsilanylethynyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)-propan-2-ol (100 mg, 0.42 mmol) in 5 mL of THF was added 1M TBAF in THF (1.3 mL, 1.3 mmol). The reaction was stirred at rt overnight, and then was diluted with 50 mL of water and extracted with EtOAc (3×50 mL). The combined extracts were washed with brine and dried with MgSO4, filtered, and concentrated to provide 58 mg of 2-(5-ethynyl-1-methyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)-propan-2-ol.
