A solution of 5-[4-(4-(2-(2-t-butoxycarbonylaminopropanamido)-2-methoxycarbonyl ethyl)phenoxy)benzyl]thiazolidin-2,4-dione (1 g, 1.75 mmol) in dichloromethane (10 ml) was bubbled with HCl gas at −10° C. for 50 minutes. The excess HCl gas was removed by N2 bubbling and concentrated to dryness to afford the title compound (0.59 g, yield 66.3%).
