Procedure

A mixture of 31 (15.3 mg, 0.28 μmol), EtOH (1.0 mL) and 10% aq. NaOH (0.5 mL) were heated at 110° C. for 40 min then cooled and poured onto saturated aqueous NaHCO3 (5 mL) and extracted with ethyl acetate (4×10 mL). The combined organic extracts were dried (MgSO4), concentrated and the residue purified by PTLC using 5% MeOH in CH2Cl2 to give the pure product as a solid (4.15 mg, 59%); 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 6.60 (d, J=1.6 Hz, 1H), 6.72 (s, 1H), 6.92 (dd, J=4.7, 2.5 Hz, 1H), 7.15 (d, J=2.0 Hz, 1H), 7.41 (d, J=2.3 Hz, 1H), 7.54 (s, 1H), 7.82 (s, 1H), 8.15 (d, J=1.7 Hz, 1H), 8.37 (bs, NH), 8.57 (d, J=1.8 Hz, 1H), 8.96 (bs, NH).
