To a suspension of the hydrochloride salt of 6-(2-chloropyrimidin-4-yloxy)-1-naphthoyl chloride (step b, 0.122 g, 0.34 mmol) in THF (3 mL) was added 3-(trifluoromethyl)benzenamine (0.047 mL, 0.38 mmol). The reaction was stirred at RT overnight. The mixture was concentrated and partitioned between EtOAc and 2N aqueous NaOH. Extraction with several portions of EtOAc was followed by washing of the organic layer with brine and drying with MgSO4. The solution was filtered and concentrated to afford the desired compound.
