A stirred mixture of 3-{4-[(6-bromohexyl)oxy]butyl}benzenesulfonamide (11.1 g), (1R)-2-(benzylamino)-1-(2,2-dimethyl-4H-1,3-benzodioxin-6-yl)ethanol (9 g) and diisopropyl ethylamine (8.9 ml) in acetonitrile (28 ml) was heated at reflux for 18 h. The resulting mixture was cooled to room temperature, diluted with diethyl ether (250 ml) and washed with water (2×100 ml) and brine (100 ml) before being dried over anhydrous Na2SO4. The suspension was filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to give the title compound (20 g) as an oil.
