Reaction Steps
A solution of 3,9-dihydro-9-(4-methoxyphenyl)-furo[2,3-b][1,8]naphthyridin-4(2H)-one (1 g.) and sodium iodide (1 g.) in dry dimethylacetamide (10 ml.) was heated to 70° C. for 4 hr in a nitrogen atmosphere. The product was cooled, poured over ice-water, filtered, dried and recrystallized from CH2Cl2 to yield the desired product, m.p. 282°-284° C.
