Procedure

7.52 g (63.7 mmol) of 4-pyridylacetonitrile and 11.09 g (63.7 mmol) of tert-butoxybis(dimethylamino)methane were stirred at 100° C. for 2 h. In the course of this, liberated dimethylamine and t-butanol were led off to the atmosphere by a slight reduced pressure flow by means of a vacuum pump. Flash chromatography (CH2Cl2/ethyl acetate 50:1→20:1) yielded the title compound.
