A mixture of 2-fluoro-5-{2-methoxy-6-[2-(4-methoxy-phenyl)-ethylamino]-pyrimidin-4-yl}-benzaldehyde [700 mg, 1.84 mmol, Example 35(j)], sodium acetate (2.5 g, 18.4 mmol) and hydroxylamine hydrochloride (1.3 g, 18.4 mmol) in EtOH (95%, 20 mL) is stirred for 20 hours at 20° C. The reaction mixture is concentrated, diluted with water, and extracted with ethyl acetate. The extracts are dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered through a plug of silica, and concentrated to afford 2-fluoro-5-{2-methoxy-6-[2-(4-methoxy-phenyl)-ethylamino]-pyrimidin-4-yl}-benzaldehyde oxime [0.86 g, Example 26]. LCMS: RT=2.53 minutes. MS: 397 (M+H). IC50=4.5 nM
