A mixture of 3-{2-methoxy-6-[2-(4-methoxy-phenyl)-ethylamino]-pyrimidin-4-yl}-benzamide [50 mg, 0.132 mmol, Example 35(g)] and dimethylacetamide dimethylacetal (2 mL) in a sealed tube and heated to 110° C. for 45 minutes. The mixture is concentrated by rotary evaporator to provide N-(1-dimethylamino-ethylidene)-3-{2-methoxy-6-[2-(4-methoxy-phenyl)-ethylamino]-pyrimidin-4-yl}-benzamide [Intermediate (46)] in quantitative yield.
