Procedure
In a solvent mixture of 100 ml of glacial acetic acid, 10 ml of methanol and 10 ml of water was dispersed 10 g of 1-(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl)-3-[2,4-dichloro-5-(4-nitrophenoxy)anilino]-2-pyrazolin-5-one prepared as described in Step (1) above. To the dispersion was added 10 g of iron powder with heating under stirring over a 10 minute period. The reaction mixture was poured into 1 l of water and the precipitate crystallized out was recovered by filtration to obtain 8 g of the desired compound.
