4M Hydrogen chloride in dioxane (1 mL, 0.25 mmol) was added to a solution of 3-(2-{3,3-difluoro-2-[4-(5-fluoropyridin-2-yl)phenyl]-2-hydroxypropyl}-1-trityl-1H-imidazol-4-yl)-2,2-dimethylpropan-1-ol (from previous step) in methanol (1 mL). After stirring at 70° C. for 1 h, volatiles were removed. The residue was basified with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate and extracted with ethyl acetate. Combined extracts were dried (magnesium sulfate) and concentrated Chromatography over silica eluting with 0-100% acetone/methylene chloride afforded the title compound. LCMS: 420 (M+H) found.
