Procedure

A solution of 18 g of the preceding compound (XXXVII) in 200 ml of ~7 N hydrochloric ethanol and 200 ml of ethanol is brought to reflux for 36 hours. Then the solvent is evaporated, the residue is taken up in methylene chloride, washed with a sodium bicarbonate solution, then with water, dried on magnesium sulfate, filtered and the filtrate is evaporated. 15 g of expected compound are obtained in the form of oil.
