To a mixture of 3 g (0.01M) of N-(3-mercapto-2-methyl propanoyl)-N-cyclopentyl glycine-t-butyl ester, 1.2 g (0.012M) triethylamine in 100 ml methylene chloride was added a solution of 1.8 g (0.01M) of 3-acetylthio-2-methyl propanoyl chloride and stirring continued for 8 hours. It was then washed with water, dried over MgSO4 and evaporated to dryness leaving an oily residue which was purified by HPLC using ethyl acetate--hexane (1:3) as eluent.
