The above ester (1.6 g, 3.1 mmol) was hydrolyzed to its corresponding carboxylic acid as described in Example 1. There was obtained 1.35 g (86.7%) of 3-[3-[4-[4-(4-fluorobenzoyl)piperidin-1-yl]butyl]-2,4-dioxothieno[3,4-d]pyrimidin-1-yl]propanoic acid after trituration with ether.
